Terms of Service

AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC — Effective Date: 8/4/2026

1. Nature of Services

AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC provides mobile equine bodywork services — including massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy — performed by Ashley Koebke, a Certified Equine Bodyworker (EEBW, Equinology Institute).

Equine bodywork is a complementary, nonstandard therapy. It is not veterinary medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, or any other regulated veterinary specialty, and it is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment, or care by a licensed veterinarian.

2. Required Veterinary Referral

Under Texas law (22 TAC §573.14), equine bodywork and other forms of musculoskeletal manipulation may be performed on a horse only under the general supervision of a licensed veterinarian who has examined the horse and determined the work is not likely to be harmful. Before any session, AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC requires a signed Veterinary Referral & Authorization Form on file, including the referring veterinarian's authorization and the owner's signed acknowledgment. AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC may decline or postpone a session if a valid referral is not on file.

3. Scope of Practice

AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC does not diagnose, prescribe for, or treat disease, illness, or injury. If, during a session, AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC observes signs of pain, injury, illness, or lameness, we will inform you and recommend veterinary evaluation before continuing or resuming bodywork.

4. Booking, Payment & Cancellation

A signed intake form, liability release form, and current veterinary referral must be on file before your first session.

Payment is due by the time of service unless other arrangements are made in advance.

Cancellations or reschedule requests should be made at least 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

Travel fees may apply for locations outside AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC’s standard service area.

5. Client Responsibilities

By booking a session, you agree to:

Provide accurate and complete information about your horse's health history, current veterinary care, medications, and behavior;

Ensure the horse is clean (with hooves picked out) and reasonably safe to handle (haltered, and in a suitable, safe area) at the time of the session;

Disclose any known injury, illness, lameness, or behavioral concern before the session begins;

Have a responsible adult present and available to handle the horse during the session, unless otherwise agreed in advance; and

Promptly notify AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC of any change in your horse’s health or veterinary care.

6. Inherent Risks & Liability

Equine activities, including equine bodywork, involve inherent risks, including the unpredictable behavior of horses. By engaging AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC’s services, you acknowledge and assume these risks on behalf of yourself and any person assisting with the horse.

WARNING: UNDER TEXAS LAW (CHAPTER 87, CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE), A FARM ANIMAL PROFESSIONAL OR FARM OWNER OR LESSEE IS NOT LIABLE FOR AN INJURY TO OR THE DEATH OF A PARTICIPANT IN FARM ANIMAL ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING AN EMPLOYEE OR INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISKS OF FARM ANIMAL ACTIVITIES.

A separate Liability Release & Assumption of Risk form must be signed before your first session. That release, together with these Terms, governs the allocation of risk and liability between you and AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC’s total liability arising out of its services is limited to the amount you paid for the session giving rise to the claim.

7. Photo & Video Use

AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC may photograph or video record sessions for use in marketing and educational content (including social media and the website). By signing the intake form, clients consent to this use. If you prefer that your horse or facility not be featured, please notify AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC in writing before your session.

8. Website Use

The content on the website — including text, photos, videos, and branding — is the property of AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC unless otherwise noted and may not be copied or reproduced without permission. The website is provided "as is" for informational purposes; while we work to keep it accurate, we do not guarantee that all content is complete, current, or error-free, and nothing on the website should be treated as veterinary or medical advice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC and its owner, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the website or the services, except where such limitation is not permitted by law.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC’s services will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Bexar County, Texas.

11. Changes to these Terms

AK Equine Performance Bodywork LLC may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
